Roehr Agency selected as one of Cincinnatis Best Places to Work in 2017

Our thanks to The Business Courier for their recognition of our company..

Best Places To Work LogoWhat an honor it is for our company, in its first decade of business to be chosen by the Cincinnati Business Courier as a 2017 Best Places To Work recipient.

While we cannot reproduce the Business Courier article on our site, we are able to include a Q&A between the publication and Roehr employees. It is as follows:

What word best describes your company's culture? Energizing. With the kind of enthusiasm our boss, Alvin, exudes it’s hard not to want to give him our very best every single day!

What are some of the special things you look for when hiring? Personality, sound character and an open mind. Anyone can be trained and taught the skills they need for a particular job, but many lack personal skills, so when you find one who has the whole package, you hang on to them.

How does your company leadership ensure all employees know they are valued? Alvin Roehr, the President and CEO, regularly takes the time to meet with each employee to discuss business, talk life and let them know how much he appreciates all they are doing.

What are some of the most popular perks you provide? We offer great benefits, we make sure our employees have an ample amount of PTO to spend relaxing and enjoying time with their families, and we try our best to make them feel special; whether that be by throwing a party for someone’s birthday or celebrating a special accomplishment, we like to have a good time!

What are some opportunities for career growth and development that you offer? We don’t want anyone to be stagnant in their job which is why Alvin believes it is important to hire young individuals who can grow and find their niche within the company because ultimately they are the future of the agency.

How do encourage employees to give back to the community? Alvin is extremely philanthropic within the community which is why asks his entire staff to contribute to the United Way cause. He also encourages his employees to attend such events as High Hopes, hosted by the Lindner Center, Stepping Stones Bloom event, The American Heart Association Heart Ball, among many others

How does being a Best Place to Work affect your bottom line? Obviously, everyone wants the title of “Best Place to Work”, but our philosophy is that we are never truly going to be our “best” because, if you can accept that statement, it means we won’t get too comfortable in our careers and feel that there isn’t any room for growth because there is always room for growth!

EXCLUSIVE: Former president of huge Cincinnati insurance agency has his own firm on growth track

Our thanks to The Business Courier for the following article.

alvin croppedAlvin Roehr left his role as president of Schiff, Kreidler-Shell, one of Cincinnati's largest insurance agencies, five years ago to start his own firm.

Schiff, Kreidler-Shell had been acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher and Roehr opted to form the Roehr Insurance Agency. Now, he's generating powerful growth and has hired a sought-after account manager he believes will spur additional growth.

Roehr brought Carmine DiLonardo on board May 1 as a marketer and account manager. DiLonardo worked with Roehr at Schiff, Kreidler-Shell for almost 15 years. May 1 was the first day DiLonardo could make the move once his noncompete agreement expired. DiLonardo left Gallagher two years ago and joined Cincinnati Insurance. He had to wait two years to join Roehr.

"This guy is as big of a game-changer as I could have," Roehr said.
He and Jeff McCauley, a vice president at Roehr, give the firm two people with loads of experience who have handled big accounts, Roehr said.

"This gives us the resources to handle any deal that comes in," he said.
Roehr's Oakley agency now has 15 employees. It's grown to $2.5 million in revenue. The firm ranked as Greater Cincinnati's 14th-largest property and casualty insurance agency based on last year's revenues, according to Courier research.

Roehr expects booming growth, projecting revenue will grow by 50 percent this year. Much of that is based on the people he's adding. He has two more employees joining the firm in the next couple of months.
All of this growth comes at a time when many insurance agencies are selling to larger firms. Roehr went the other way and it's worked.
"We're kind of a dying breed, I guess, but one that people who have seen the other side want to come back to," Roehr said.

He spent almost 30 years with Schiff, Kreidler-Shell. He started his own firm to provide personalized service that he says is vanishing in the industry.

"We've bulked up our customer service so every time you call, you get us," he said.

The Roehr Agency sells a variety of insurance products covering home, life, business, long-term care and disability insurance among others.

Central Offers New Claim Payment Options!

CentralIn response to requests from our agents, insureds, and claimants, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Paysurance by Enservio to offer Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), debit card, and instant issue card payment options for claims. These options are in addition to our traditional process of issuing a paper check.

These new options offer faster access to funds, the security of FDIC insurance, data security and privacy, and protection against fraud, not to mention ease of use for our customers!

EFT deposits funds directly into an individual’s bank account – just an e-mail address and a bank account number are required. Central will generate an e-mail indicating the amount and details of the transaction, as well as a unique reference number. A separate e-mail is sent by Paysurance with a link to the payment redemption platform. The insured or claimant enters their last name, the unique reference number provided by Central, and their zip code to access the redemption platform system. From the redemption system, they simply input their bank routing number and account number to receive the funds directly into their bank account.

Debit Cards allow for spending at all points of sale, cash access at ATMs, and the ability to transfer funds to a bank account. If this payment process is chosen, a personalized debit card will be generated and mailed to the customer. After a quick activation process, the card will be ready to use wherever MasterCard® is accepted. Cardholders can access their balance and transaction history at any time online. Debit cards are reloadable for supplemental claim payments.

Instant Issue Cards can be issued in the field. For example, if an insured suffers a house fire loss, the field claim representative can activate a card as a claim advance so the insured can purchase food and clothing or make a hotel reservation. There’s no waiting in line at the bank to cash a check! The instant issue card can be immediately activated with funds available to spend and reloaded for supplemental claim payments.

Both the debit cards and instant issue cards are customized and branded with Central’s name and logo.

Central will not store any banking information from anyone receiving electronic payments. Paysurance will handle all of the personal transactions and offers a customer service support center.

Central is pleased to offer the security and convenience of these new options to our customers. It’s just one more example of how we make it as easy as possible to do business with us!

Cincinnati's Heart Ball 2017 - Keep Your Heart In The Game

Heart Ball 2017 CincinnatiIt's hard to believe that it is time once again to support the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association through the Heart Ball 2017 Fundraiser.

My wife and I are so proud to be co-chairs this year, as we have been able to witness the event first-hand. To say the least, it has been an impressive journey. The generosity of Cincinnati's citizens is unsurpassed. So many people step up, get involved and contribute. The Ball's Venue and black-tie gala are outstanding. Plus, the learning experience is a powerful one. After all, what family hasn't been touched by heart and cardiovascular sickness. The American Heart Association's work in our great city has benefitted so many and with fundraising events like the Heart Ball it's sure to continue to grow.

Interested in joining us for a wonderful night of celebration on February 25, 2017? Read a recent article about the event in  Lead Cincinnati through the link below. Or feel free to contact me personally to find out how you too can get involved.
